Under the Big Top

Welcome to the jungle hope you keep your head
Jackals are awaiting at the rivers edge
Wouldn’t wanna be in your shoes even on a bet
How does it feel working without a net

Life under the big top the show that never ends

Best be aware of all of those you call your friend
Don’t cha dare turn your back that could be your end
Cowboys and Indians in the Wild Wild West
Like General Custer you tried to do your best

Life under the big top the show that never ends
You may dream of a better life but you’ll never get out of this place

Clowns to the left and dancing bears to the right
Hyenas laugh at you all through the night
Oh selling sadness and sleeping with idiots
When you ride the tiger you surely will get bit

Life under the big top the show that never ends
Life under the big top the show that never ends

Jackals await around every bend
How does it feel to be out on a limb

Behind the veil of canvas good fortune favours the brave

Marching in single file like were army ants
Our end to serve the Man and dance the dance
Oh don’t ever pull back that cover
Way too afraid of what we may discover

Cowboy’s and Indians in the Wild Wild West
Good ole General Custer tried to do his best
How many clowns can fit inside that hall
when you’ve heard the one then you’ve heard them all

Flying High

Feeling so free on my swinging trapeze beneath the big top dome
I’m flying high tonight

Perform for the crowd they can get quite loud look little ants below
I’m flying high tonight

I don’t need no weed when I’m feeling this way okay
I see my girl her hands grip the bar
She takes a leap she’s a soaring star
A double flip I reach for her arms… gotcha

I’m flying high tonight

I don’t need no weed when I’m feeling this way okay
I’m upside down but I can see her smile
Gives me a wink the classic wild child
Launching herself I reach for her arms

Put away thought of watching her drop gotta keep my eye on the ball
I’m flying high tonight

Feeling so free as I catch her with ease and then I let her go
I’m flying high tonight

I don’t need no weed when I’m feeling this way okay
I see my girl her hands grip the bar
She takes a leap she’s a soaring star
A double flip I reach for her arms… oops!

Infatuation

She’s not at all like the girls from the city
In the Carny world she’s kissing pretty
Yah there’s times where there’s confusion but I have come to this conclusion
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover you don’t know what you may discover

She’s got something can’t put my finger on
Plays me like a fiddle it’s a bitter sweet song
There’s a battle that rages deep inside yet still wanna be by her side
Ignore the haters that are hating and the shamer’s who are shaming

Once you get the taste my friends of a bearded lady
Ooh infatuation never ends it’ll drive ya crazy

Is she good ‘n’ plenty like Dainty Dora maybe she’s a plague like Pandora
Or more of a monster like Medusa you’ll find out if you seduce her
Were all afraid of the strange unknown
If you dare to try your mind will be blown

Once you get the taste my friends of a bearded lady
Ooh infatuation never ends it’ll drive ya crazy

Once you get the taste my friends…
Once you get the taste my friends…

Deception

In the shadows behind closed doors where it’s safe inside
They get busy hatching their plans no need for disguise
Been around before the Founding Father’s created democracy
Left their mark all over the world firmly embedded in society

Don’t trust a mime if they make a sound
And never trust the crocodile tears of a clown

They have a seat at every table a finger in every pie
Just a nod or gesture could be war with a wink of an eye
Hide behind those painted faces disarming us with a smile
Taken in by their amusement they plot and scheme all the while

Don’t trust a mime if they make a sound
And never trust the crocodile tears of a clown

We think of them as being innocent but their all evil trolls
Their the one’s pulling all the strings yah their in control

Don’t trust a mime if they make a sound
And never trust the crocodile tears of a clown

Nobody Knows

Another year has passed the circus is back in town
You can hear the calliope belting out that eerie sound
Life is a carnival everybody’s living under the big top
We’re all here for the show but don’t know when it stops

The sands of time well they just keep on tumbling down
The tents are leaking some have fallen to the ground
High atop a Ferris wheel you can see your loved ones come and go
We keep going round and round when it stops nobody knows

I tried to keep track of the day’s on my bedroom wall
But after a while you lose sight of it all
One day the calliope stops the music comes to an end
Nobody knows where or when yah

I tried to keep track of the day’s on my bedroom wall
But after a while you lose sight of it all
One day the calliope stops the music comes to an end
Nobody knows where or when yah

Curiosity

Who is that guarded man behind those canvas flaps
Portrayed as a deity is he something less than that
Mystery is the great unknown is there any other kind
But when the truth gets told might not be what you had in mind

Curiosity killed the cat (Just like that) and he ain’t coming back

There’s something to be said about the less you know
The knowledge that you gain puts a crack in the pedestal
You couldn’t help your self you had to take that bite
That’s when they reel you in no matter how you fight

Curiosity killed the cat (Just like that) and he ain’t coming back
That’s when they reel you in
Curiosity killed the cat (Just like that) and he ain’t coming back

How Do You Sleep

On the fringes were the losers the oddballs and the misfits
While were living on the outside got no friends but we don’t give shit
We are thought of as inconvenient ask for a buck and you laugh at us
Until your precious little darlings come begging to see the circus

All hail the carnies and the freaks tables get turned for a few weeks
No longer shunned by each and everyone
Now you empty your pockets just to see me

All consuming an obsession chasing money is an empty pursuit
I would rather have the freedom stick it to the man than to be a suit
Though my future seems so uncertain do okay given the circumstance
The one thing that keeps me going always look forward to my comeuppance

All hail the carnies and the freaks tables get turned for a few weeks
No longer shunned by each and everyone
Now you empty your pockets just to see me

Oh how do you sleep gave your hard earned money to a freak
Shoes on the other foot it’s me who gave you that dirty look
From the lens of wealth and greed oh I appear as a pretty bad seed
Funny how views are arranged the person I was well he’s never changed

Oh how do you sleep….

A Tiger's Tale

Siegfried and Roy two good old German boy’s shining under the Vegas lights
Perform their show on the Mirage floor with their tigers most every night
But can killing machines who have a lust for flesh be controlled is anyone’s guess
Evolution drives the need to feed

Better watch your back around these massive cats
Dare to grab a tiger by the tail they can turn yah just like that

It’s a foolish man that doesn’t understand the tiger has an inborn thirst
Best not to forget these white cats ain’t pets
You could find yourself in a hearse
Not a question of if only a matter when Montacore would sink his sharp teeth in
Oh that need to feed

Better watch your back around these massive cats
Dare to grab a tiger by the tail they can turn yah just like that

Oh listen how they purr they can fool yah that’s for sure
But there’s a killing machine under that pretty white fur

Better watch your back around these massive cats
Dare to grab a tiger by the tail they can turn yah just like that

Peace of Mind

So here I stand left my heart on the floor
Can’t remember when I felt so alone
And there you are always crying out for more
All I do is give and give I can’t take anymore

Funny how laughing can make you feel your dying sometimes
All I want is some peace of mind

Behind the facade there ain’t no happy face
Just a terrified man whose lost his place
You bled me dry oh yah just a hollow shell
Gave you everything I had I emptied the well

Funny how laughing can make you feel your dying sometimes
All I want is some peace of mind

Funny how laughing can make you feel your dying sometimes
All I want is some peace of mind

Wallenda

In the high-wire world dreams are spun
A tale unfolds beneath the setting sun
Karl Wallenda on a daring quest
Balanced on a wire gave his very best
Through the winds that whispered fear he walked the line his vision clear

A silhouette against the canvas sky
Karl Wallenda longed to touch the high
In the circus lights a hero’s call
But fate would catch him watch him fall

Through the tension through the strain he faced the wire the gentle rain
In the spotlight’s glare a legend’s fate a final blow on destiny’s slate

Karl Wallenda on the wire you danced all that watched so entranced
Gravity may claim you but your spirit soars
In the echoes of the circus forevermore

Through the sorrow through the tears
The circus marches on conquering fears
Karl Wallenda in the afterglow
Is the legend his story told

Through the whispers of the night he walks the wire
To the hallowed sound of the angels’ choir
In the circus heart a legend stays a tribute written in the wire’s maze

Karl Wallenda on the wire you danced all that watched so entranced
Gravity may claim you but your spirit soars
In the echoes of the circus forevermore

Three For The Show

She’s Daddy’s little girl with plenty under the hood
Her talents are renowned in these neck of the woods
She likes it long and hard prefers to take it all down whole
Oh this innocent fille does things her Mama not need to know
Opens up like an anaconda swallows that sword they stare in wonder

If that don’t suit your fancy check out this other act
A body like a rubber band and that’s a natural fact
She can take her ankles wrap them so easily round her neck
Even a hardened criminal yah becomes a total wreck
Gumby and Pokey got nothing on her bends like a pretzel and is self assured

Just across the midway there’s a gal that’s really hot
With a burning desire willing to show you what she’s got
If you dare to touch her best be warned it may not end so well
She’s a fire eating demon sent directly from the bowels of hell
Heed my words you better deny her or you’ll end up in a funeral pyre

Heed my words you better deny her or you’ll end up in a funeral pyre

At The Calliope

Been on my own far too long feel like a poor boy in a country song
Dog ran way now he’s gone yah
So I brought my misery to the county fair I’d try anything to fight this despair

Roller coasters and candy floss seems the place to rid this albatross
Tired of feeling that woe is me stuck in this lonely place I shouldn’t be
Did the fates finally hear my plea the day we met at the calliope

Strolling down the busy midway watching as the kids play those games
Throwing all that money away yah
Fortune tellers it’s just silly talk I never believed in all that poppycock

Roller coasters and candy floss seems the place to rid this albatross
Tired of feeling that woe is me stuck in this lonely place I shouldn’t be
Did the fates finally hear my plea the day we met at the calliope

Tired of feeling that woe is me stuck in this lonely place I shouldn’t be
Did the fates finally hear my plea the day we met at the calliope
The day we met at the calliope
